The Wisdom of the Giant: Why Every Battle Isn’t Yours
Learn to select your fights.
It’s not every fight you fight.
In my language, there is a saying: “A giant needs to be wise to live long.”
If a giant decides to fight every fight, he will end up in trouble. And those who push you, who hail you into some fights, will not be there to defend you or help you.
There has been this dispute between BLord and VeryDarkMan. To an extent, it was an unnecessary fight.
BLord came up with a registration claiming he had registered the Ratel brand, not knowing that VeryDarkMan allegedly had registered it long ago.
He also allegedly registered the BLord brand. BLord imported electric vehicles with the name written on them for public transport.
VeryDarkMan then said BLord had broken the law because he had already registered that name.
At first, I thought he was joking. Before you know it, I saw a list of various BLord trademarks that had been registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission. 📄
Some people are not wise. Some people are not smart. You can have money, but you need to be intelligent.
You need to be guided by the law. You need to have a wise lawyer you consult regularly. You will always hear me say: my lawyer, my lawyer.
BLord also published things allegedly using VeryDarkMan’s face on billboards and materials.
VeryDarkMan went to court and got an order restraining him — even leading to detention for 26 days pending the next hearing.
I don’t know whether it is AI, but I saw videos where VeryDarkMan, with his lawyer, escorted BLord in a Black Maria to Kuje prison, and ensured he entered before leaving with Barrister Marshal Abubakar.
The case is ongoing, so we can’t pass judgment. But we must learn to be careful.
There used to be a millionaire in the East who sold motorcycle spare parts. One young Igbo boy sent him to prison. By the time he came out, we didn’t hear of his brand again.
You can make fun of people, yes — but know your legal limits.
This case between BLord and VeryDarkMan will go a long way. It’s going to be a long story.
“Dead body go full ground,” as Benin boys say.
The fear of VeryDarkMan is the beginning of wisdom.
